This scattered strawberry vase makes ideal holders of blooms, posies and bouquets! It's bigger than a medium size, but ever so slightly smaller than a large one AND, unusually for Marigold and Lettice, the background of this vase is a cream coloured rather than bright white: I trialled this cream glaze and it gives a really lovely vintage, classic look – but it is different to my usual style.
Don’t forget too, the strawberries are hand painted - perfectly imperfect red berries and tones of green in the stalk. They aren't mass-produced, stencilled or transfer painted or identical, so each is unique. The colour of the berries really pop against the cream background and look, well, charming!!
Now, this vase has been reduced by £15 because – during the glazing process – the cream glaze has come out with a slight matt effect rather than the usual shiny glaze. It’s fully glazed so of course able to be used in the normal way it’s just a cosmetic thing.
* I've added a picture of the cream vase against a white large vase so you can see the difference in colour and height

💋 Important vase information 💋
Marigold and Lettice vases are unapologetically different. Each are made by hand (no moulds or casts are used) so each will have their own shape and lines. Because of this expect them to be slightly sloped and not symmetrical. They certainly aren’t mainstream or mass market, but it will be unique to you and packed with character and texture.

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
Marigold and Lettice pottery is (hand)made to be loved and used, and happily goes in the oven, dishwasher and microwave.
cream strawberry vase
Marigold and Lettice pottery is made to be used, loved and enjoyed; it’s made using sturdy earthenware clay and a thick white glaze. This means it’s hard-wearing and every piece can safely go in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and even the freezer.
Each piece that is made by Marigold and Lettice is totally handmade and a one-off. So, if you see thumb prints in the clay or the glaze that may be thicker in some parts than others, it's because each piece is unique and is what gives our chunky china its specialness, and a different look and feel to mass-produced pottery.
When you first get your chunky china piece you may hear a ‘ping’ - especially the first time the pottery meets with water. If you do, please don’t worry, it's really quite normal and will stop as soon as the glaze/clay settles down together. You may also notice that the bottom of every piece is left unglazed, and this may leave a slight residue on your shelves, but can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.
Like with all china, over time you may also notice signs of use in the glaze, but these are just signs of the china being well-loved. If this is the case, please be assured, the piece will still be perfectly fine to use.
