Easter Celebration platter

Easter Celebration platter

A chunky china celebration of everything that sums up Spring and Easter… on a platter! Our Easter Celebration platter may have an abundance of colour but never fear it doesn’t stray too far from the Marigold and Lettice principles of being chunky, full of texture, handmade and still with a lot of white pottery going on!

Each Easter Celebration platter will be totally unique as each is handmade and hand painted meaning that each will be made just for you. Each one will feature a large carrot, bee, butterfly, ladybird, rabbit, chicken, single flower and climbing flower.

The platter itself is our largest rectangle platter and is very much up for being used! It will be ideal for serving up a massive salad, full of steaming roast potatoes, for carving a roast chicken (the hen on the platter will forgive you!) or for serving easter biscuits!  Basically, it will be perfect for display or dishing up on a dinner table!

Despite the riot of colours and plethora of decorations, the Easter Celebration platter will happily go in the dishwasher and oven (and microwave if you have a big enough one!)

Please remember that the glaze colour is hand painted not mass-produced so there may be areas where the glaze runs or where the white from underneath shows through. Perfectly imperfect and all the better for it we say, but please remember that this has a very different look and feel from ‘normal’ pottery.

Getting your perfect piece to you is our priority but as each piece is made to order (we don't hold any pieces in stock), it takes at least three weeks to handmake, fire and glaze each piece of chunky china. That is just a guide though; while we aim for under, three weeks is the norm - it will be worth the wait so if it's four weeks+ please bear with us.

Please note that because each piece is unique the design will be different from the one in the picture – similar but unique.

  • Marigold and Lettice pottery

Marigold and Lettice pottery is made to be used, loved and enjoyed; it’s made using sturdy earthenware clay and a thick white glaze. This means it’s hard-wearing and every piece can safely go in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and even the freezer.

Each piece that is made by Marigold and Lettice is totally handmade and a one-off. So, if you see thumb prints in the clay or the glaze that may be thicker in some parts than others, it's because each piece is unique and is what gives our chunky china its specialness, and a different look and feel to mass-produced pottery.

When you first get your chunky china piece you may hear a ‘ping’ - especially the first time the pottery meets with water.  If you do, please don’t worry, it's really quite normal and will stop as soon as the glaze/clay settles down together.  You may also notice that the bottom of every piece is left unglazed, and this may leave a slight residue on your shelves, but can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.

Like with all china, over time you may also notice signs of use in the glaze, but these are just signs of the china being well-loved. If this is the case, please be assured, the piece will still be perfectly fine to use.
