Jubilee Celebration platter

Jubilee Celebration platter

On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. There is a lot of fan-girling going on over here in M&L HQ and to mark this occasion, and in preparation for the June Jubilee celebrations we thought we should create a chunky china celebration platter in the Queen’s honour.

Including all things iconic about the 70-year reign, the Jubilee Celebration platter includes an iconic silhouette of the Queen herself glazed in platinum, a wreath in gold, Union Jack flag, crown, English roses and of course very British bunting!

Our Jubilee Celebration platter may have an abundance of colour but never fear it doesn’t stray too far from the Marigold and Lettice principles of being chunky, full of texture, handmade and still with a lot of white pottery going on!

Each Jubilee Celebration platter will be totally unique as each is handmade and hand painted meaning that each will be made just for you.

The platter itself is our largest rectangle platter and is very much up for being used as well as displayed, imagine it full of jam sandwiches, or perhaps a good old serving of Coronation Chicken! Despite the platinum and gold glazing it can still go in the oven and dishwasher – just not the microwave! Basically, it will be perfect for display or dishing up on a dinner table!

Please remember that the glaze colour is hand painted not mass-produced so there may be areas where the glaze runs or where the white from underneath shows through. Perfectly imperfect and all the better for it we say, but please remember that this has a very different look and feel from ‘normal’ pottery.

Getting your perfect piece to you is our priority but as each piece is made to order (we don't hold any pieces in stock), it takes at least three weeks to handmake, fire and glaze each piece of chunky china. That is just a guide though; while we aim for under, three weeks is the norm - it will be worth the wait so if it's four weeks+ please bear with us.

Please note that because each piece is unique the design will be different from the one in the picture – similar but unique.

  • Marigold and Lettice: what we are & what we're not

Marigold and Lettice pottery is made to be used, loved and enjoyed; it’s made using sturdy earthenware clay and a thick white glaze. This means it’s hard-wearing and every piece can safely go in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and even the freezer.

Our china is not fine and delicate, it is chunky and full of texture. It is handmade (and homemade) and has a very different look and feel to mass-produced pottery. It'll have thumb prints and markers marks but it is made with love and we hope it brings you joy for many years.
