The problem with being a potter? Too many ideas… and not enough shelf space.  Over the years, I’ve made (and kept!) so many pieces I’ve loved - but with kitchen shelves groaning and space running out, I’ve decided it’s time to (grudgingly) part with a small selection from my personal collection.

These are pre-loved, gently used, and full of character - and they’re all being offered at a discounted price to reflect that.

Pre-loved, full of personality: Last summer, we went through a serious salad phase — eating it all. the. time. So I set out to make a set of salad bowls for the three of us: one each for my husband, daughter, and me. I wanted something chunky, not frilly — really sturdy to hold and easy to use.

Of course, by the time they came out of the kiln, the weather had changed… and so had our nightly menus. So, they’ve mostly sat on the shelf, waiting for their moment. Each bowl is white on the outside, rolled chunky edges, with a little hand-painted icon hidden on the inside base — a small reward once you reach the bottom of your meal. They’re ideal for individual servings of salad or pasta, and just as lovely as shared serving bowls for bringing food to the table or passing around at a party.

This medium sized bowl features a blue evil eye and is around 17cm wide and 9cm tall.

** This is a slight second – as you’ll see from the photos, there’s a small split on the inside edge of the bowl. This happened during the making process, when the clay was rolled over to give it that extra chunky rim. It’s purely surface-level (as they say, it doesn’t go deeper!) and sits just on the rim, not in the bowl itself.

** There’s also a splodge and drip of brilliant white glaze on the inside where I held it during glazing...

** Taking these quirks into account, along with its preloved status, this piece has been discounted by 60%.

Caring for your pottery:

Marigold and Lettice pottery is made from white earthenware clay and designed to be used and enjoyed every day. We personally use our pieces in the oven, dishwasher, and microwave. However, to prolong the life of your pottery, handwashing is the gentler choice, as dishwashers can be tough on handmade items due to high-pressure jets and strong detergents and may overtime cause damage and speed up any grazing in the glaze.

While we do microwave our own pieces, for longevity we suggest heating food in the oven where possible.

I M P O R T A N T    I N F O R M A T I O N

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
