Our chunky china is very different to mass-produced pottery. Expect thumb prints, specks or drips in the glaze. If there is colour on it, remember it is hand painted so there may be areas where the colour has taken more than in others - it’s what makes our chunky china unique and full of character. Perfectly imperfect pottery and we're very proud of it!

Jewellery doesn’t just have to be worn, it looks beautiful (if I say so myself) as an adornment on our chunky china serving dishes too. Lovely for entertaining over Christmas, just as lovely to use year round too.
The pale pink/soft rosy red, with flashes of gold in the brooch style adornment, really makes the white of this serving dish pop, and as the ‘jewel’ is hand-painted it means that each piece truly is unique.
These perfectly imperfect jewel bowls are ideal for all your needs - overflowing with nibbles, olives, crisps or roasties; or what about using them for salads or as a fruit bowl? The choice is yours! These bowls are ideal to take to the table as a serving dish and bold enough to impress anyone - even if empty! Do you know, they even make great plant pots!
Because of the gold featured in the brooch, this bowl must not be put in the microwave and you may choose to handwash it rather than put it in the dishwasher to protect the gold. It can happily go in the oven though!
Regardless of what size bowl you opt for, the size of the brooch/jewel will all stay the same size.
- Small – £45
- Medium – £55

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
Marigold and Lettice pottery is (hand)made to be loved and used.
ready to ship: pink/red jewel serving dishes
HEIGHT WIDTH Small 8cm 20cm Medium 9cm 23cm Marigold and Lettice pottery is made to be used, loved and enjoyed; it’s made using sturdy earthenware clay and a thick white glaze. This means it’s hard-wearing and every piece can safely go in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and even the freezer.
Each piece that is made by Marigold and Lettice is totally handmade and a one-off. So, if you see thumb prints in the clay or the glaze that may be thicker in some parts than others, it's because each piece is unique and is what gives our chunky china its specialness, and a different look and feel to mass-produced pottery.
When you first get your chunky china piece you may hear a ‘ping’ - especially the first time the pottery meets with water. If you do, please don’t worry, it's really quite normal and will stop as soon as the glaze/clay settles down together. You may also notice that the bottom of every piece is left unglazed, and this may leave a slight residue on your shelves, but can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.
Like with all china, over time you may also notice signs of use in the glaze, but these are just signs of the china being well-loved. If this is the case, please be assured, the piece will still be perfectly fine to use.
