Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without lots and lots of twinkling fairy lights, and our festive Fairy Light collection has become a beloved annual classic. Each piece bursts with personality, featuring textured, chunky pottery bulbs and gleaming gold bayonets.

This generous mug (around 11cm tall and 11cm wide) holds a glorious amount perfect whether you’re enjoying a creamy hot chocolate, your morning coffee or perhaps a mulled wine.

✨ Please note: because of the gold detail, this must not be used in the microwave.

WHAT MAKES IT A SECOND...

Unfortunately, during firing the little green bulb touched one of the kiln stilts, which left a slightly rough deposit on the surface and caused a small area of the green glaze to lift.

To tidy this up, I used a matching green permanent marker to fill the unglazed spots. However, it is still rough and the colour difference is still visible, but it blends in reasonably well overall.

As this is only on the exterior decoration, it doesn’t affect the inside of the mug where liquids are held, so it can still be used as normal. The colour is now set into the clay, so the mug can be gently hand-washed—though I’d recommend avoiding the dishwasher, just to be safe.

Towards the base of the mug there are also a few faint pinkish marks in the otherwise white glaze. They’re simply a bit more “perfectly imperfect” than planned, and this too has been reflected in the discounted price of the piece.

Please check the photos to see both cosmetic quirks. The mug has been discounted by 30% to account for these issues.

Caring for your pottery:

Marigold and Lettice pottery is made from white earthenware clay and designed to be used and enjoyed every day. We personally use our pieces in the oven, dishwasher, and microwave. However, to prolong the life of your pottery, handwashing is the gentler choice, as dishwashers can be tough on handmade items due to high-pressure jets and strong detergents and may overtime cause damage and speed up any grazing in the glaze.

Because of the gold on this piece, it MUST NOT be used in the microwave!

I M P O R T A N T    I N F O R M A T I O N

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
