A platter has many uses - serving dish, fruit bowl (plate), tray for candles or condiments, just about anything and this one-off 'loaf' style platter with a bow on the inside is a new one for me, but certainly won't be the last I try!
The bow is handmade (as everything is of course) and is deliciously 3D and stands proud but is still fully integral to the platter.
Size wise it's around 30cm long, 18cm wide and is about 4cm tall with it's raised sides.
WHAT MAKES IT A SECOND...
If I'm honest, this isn't a second, it's just a flipping annoying that a tiny bit of debris got caught in the glaze and got fused onto the platter in the kiln. I know I say to expect makers marks and some specks in the glaze finish, but this is just a bit more than that, so into the second sale it has gone.
Check out the pictures, where you'll see a slightly raised/rough speck in the base... purely cosmetic, highly annoying, and discounted by 10% because of it!
Caring for your pottery:
Marigold and Lettice pottery is made from white earthenware clay and designed to be used and enjoyed every day. We personally use our pieces in the oven, dishwasher, and microwave. However, to prolong the life of your pottery, handwashing is the gentler choice, as dishwashers can be tough on handmade items due to high-pressure jets and strong detergents and may overtime cause damage and speed up any grazing in the glaze.
While we do microwave our own pieces, for longevity we suggest heating food in the oven where possible.
I M P O R T A N T I N F O R M A T I O N
Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
