To me there’s something magical about the designs of old-school wedding cakes and this ‘collection’ is my love letter to this style - the kind of over-the-top detailing that feels nostalgic (in clay not icing) but in true contradictory fashion, feels contemporary due to the all-white glaze.

Yes, these pieces would be lovely for meaningful moments (perfect for bridal tablescapes, wedding gifts, or heirloom pieces to cherish long after the big day), but I also like to think they’ll bring a little romance to the everyday and would be just as lovely used for a Sunday roast or mid week meal. Romance shouldn’t be reserved for special occasions.

Each piece is completely unique and extra chunky - they are all very weighty, detailed, and intentionally one-of-a-kind. Currently, they’re not available to preorder; what you see is what’s available.

Because of the handmade decoration, you might spot joins in the piping - little reminders that this isn’t mass-produced. I make perfectly imperfect chunky china, and this feels like a match made in heaven.

__________

There are serving dishes, and then there are serving dishes! This is most definitely one of those as the design of this small serving bowl marries structure with softness. It's vintage glam with a handmade twist - as well as the piping style decorations on the side, it even has decorative edging around the top too (more is more with this piece!)

Standing at 14cm tall and 17cm wide at the top (the pedestal makes up 6.5cm of the height) it's a great size for crisps, dips, taking new potatoes or a crisp salad to the table.  I can see it filled with eton mess for two or even just as a fruit bowl on the countertop.  Let's be honest, it makes a statement plant pot too!

Overall, the piece is 14cm tall and 17cm wide at the top (the pedestal makes up 6.5cm of the height).

Caring for your pottery:

Marigold and Lettice pottery is made from white earthenware clay and designed to be used and enjoyed every day. We personally use our pieces in the oven, dishwasher, and microwave. However, to prolong the life of your pottery, handwashing is the gentler choice, as dishwashers can be tough on handmade items due to high-pressure jets and strong detergents and may overtime cause damage and speed up any grazing in the glaze.

While we do microwave our own pieces, for longevity we suggest heating food in the oven where possible.

I M P O R T A N T    I N F O R M A T I O N

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
