Now our chunky china can tell you the time! Our large handmade wall clock is more than just a way to track the hours—it’s a statement piece. Featuring a flowing ribbon around the outside and gold accents to mark the hours, along with gold hands.

It comes fitted with a silent quartz mechanism, this clock keeps time quietly and reliably, and there is an inbuilt hook in the clock device to allow it to be hung on a wall, although it looks lovely balanced on a shelf or mantlepiece too.  It will require one AA battery (not included) – just gently move the hands to the right time before inserting the battery.

WHAT MAKES IT A SECOND...

This clock is what I call a “good” second. The fault is subtle — only visible if you go looking — but it’s there, so here it is in the seconds sale, where it rightly belongs.

I’ve learned the hard way that crafting clay ribbons with movement isn’t exactly simple. The edges dry faster than the middle (surprise!), which can lead to little splits. In this case, the split is teeny and tucked underneath the ribbon at the edge — barely noticeable, and fully glazed, so there’s no risk of it spreading.

More noticeably, there’s an area near the base on the left where some gritty glaze has pooled. No idea how or when that happened (honestly), and while it sits partially under the ribbon, it is visible if you know where to look.

Finally, there is the smallest area (to the left of the clock) where a bit of gold lustre has smudged under the ribbon - must have transfered off of my hand when I was applying it boo hiss - visible yes, but somehow it doesn't detract from the overall look of the piece.

Still perfectly imperfect — just a little more imperfect than I planned. Even with these quirks, it’s still a great clock - and to reflect the split and textural glazing, it’s been discounted by 30%.

* If the hands have been pressed down during transit, they can easily/gently be lifted back into place to move freely again.

I M P O R T A N T    I N F O R M A T I O N

Our china looks and feels very (very) different to mass-produced pottery; it’s not fine or delicate, but wonderfully chunky and full of texture, you’ll see thumb prints, makers marks, glaze specks/drips and heaps of individuality. We call it perfectly imperfect pottery and firmly believe it’s all the better for it!
